We are incredibly proud to present “Burlesque Pop-Out”, an exhibition of artwork by Seattle artist Kelly Brownlee. “Burlesque Pop-Out” features cut paper dioramas depicting international burlesque performers, each in a style and flavor unique to its subject. Along with contemporary neo-burlesque performers including Jamie Von Stratton, The Shanghai Pearl, and the members of Olympia’s Own TUSH! burlesque company, the show will feature portraits of burlesque legends including Dixie Evans and Barbara Yung.
Best known for her love of wordplay and depictions of life’s sweet morsels and the sparkly world of burlesque, international freelance illustrator Kelly Brownlee has produced art shows in Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. She lives in Seattle with her daughter and their cat Gigi. For more information about Kelly Brownlee and her work, please visit her website at http://www.kellyportfolio.com
“Burlesque Pop-Out” will be held in the Emergency Arts common area, just down the hall from the Burlesque Hall of Fame’s main exhibition space, from November 1 through November 24. The exhibition is a benefit for the Burlesque Hall of Fame, with half the proceeds of all sales supporting the museum’s work to preserve and display the legacy of burlesque. An opening reception will be held during November’s First Friday, November 1st, 6-9pm.
