The BHoF Virtual Book Club is a monthly reading group dedicated to exploring works about burlesque and/or by burlesque performers. The Burlesque Hall of Fame Virtual Book Club meets via Zoom the third Thursday of each month at 5:30pm PDT. (Zoom account not required, but you will be asked to install the app the first time you join). Everyone is invited to join us, sign up here: bhof.link/joinbookclub
This month’s book is Babylon Girls: Black Women Performers and the Shaping of the Modern by Jayna Brown. Dr. Brown explores the history of black performance, particularly dance and variety, and what it tells us about ourselves and our modern world. Pick up a copy on Bookshop at bhof.link/bookshop or through your favorite bookstore.
Future readings are decided by the group each month, so if there’s something you’d be interested in reading and sharing with the group, feel free to recommend it!
There is no charge to participate.
